DELBROS Executives participate in “Go Green” Tree Planting activity
Teresa, Rizal – The husband and wife team of Jose Eduardo C. Delgado (JED) and Margarita L. Delgado (MLD), President and Vice President of Delbros, Inc., respectively, joined volunteer employees of Coca-Cola Philippines in the Boy Scout of the Philippines-led “Go Green, Go for the Real Thing” tree planting activity conducted in this town on June 9, 2008.
The Teresa activity is the very first tree planting activity to be conducted under “Go Green, Go for the Real Thing,” a landmark environmental preservation project of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) in partnership with Coca-Cola. Coca-Cola Philippines is also the project’s primary sponsor.
The tree saplings used in the Teresa Tree Planting activity are a product of the first Tree Nursery built under the “Go Green, Go for the Real Thing” project about half a year ago.
JED, then the BSP National Program Commissioner, and JB Baylon, Vice President and Director of Public Affairs & Communication of Coca-Cola Philippines, came up with the idea more than a year ago. JED then mobilized the resources of the BSP National Program Division in developing the project concept which eventually came into fruition.
Three of the four Delgado children — Clarissa (22), Camille (14), and Anton (10) — gamely joined JED and MLD in the tree planting activity.
The Delgados behind Delbros are known for their long and colorful history of very active involvement in the Scouting movement. The late Ambassador Antonio Delgado, JED’s father, was the very first Filipino to serve as Chairman of the World Scout Committee of the World Organization of the Scouting Movement (1971 to 1973). One of JED’s brothers, Jose Antonio, was among the 24 Filipino Boy Scouts who perished in a plane crash en route to the 11th Jamboree in Greece on July 8, 1963. Jose Paolo Delgado (27), the eldest of the Delgado children and a Director in Delbros, Inc., is an Eagle Scout. He and JED both attended the World Scout Jamboree in July 2007.
Aside from Scouting, the Delgados of Delbros are also very deeply involved in other youth-oriented advocacies. MLD, for instance, is the founder and President of Sa Aklat Sisikat Foundation, a pioneering NGO committed and dedicated to promoting the love and habit of reading in Filipino children.
